Reviews of Fat Loss and Weight Loss Supplements and Products.
Xenadrine® dietary supplements promise to increase the metabolism, burn fat, and promote weight loss. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has sued Xenadrine EFX® manufacturer and advertiser, RTC Research & Development and Cytodyne, for deceptive advertising and unsubstantiated claims. RTC Research & Development and Cytodyne have entered into an administrative settlement with the FTC. The settlement requires that the company have competent and reliable scientific evidence for their product claims.
Xenadrine® products, Xenadrine EFX® and XenadrineNRG®, include nutrients derived from herbs and botanicals that may help increase the body's metabolic rate and promote weight loss. Xenadrine® products contain a potent blend of naturally derived caffeine ingredients and are ephedrine-free. For best weight loss results, the manufacturer recommends that Xenadrine® products be used in addition to a healthy eating plan and exercise program.
The manufacturer has conducted a clinical study of XenadrineNRG®. In a placebo-controlled, double-blind study, 20 overweight but otherwise healthy subjects were administered either XenadrineNRG® or a placebo, along with a controlled daily diet and exercise plan for 4 weeks. Findings revealed that the Xenadrine group lost 4 times more body weight and 3 times more body fat than the placebo group. No adverse side effects were noted.
"Do not use if you are pregnant or nursing or at risk of or being treated for high blood pressure, heart disease, renal disease, hyperthyroidism, psychiatric disease, suffer from migraines, are allergic to tyramine or chocolate, have asthma, or are taking asthma medication." states the manufacturer about Xenadrine EFX®. "Limit use of caffeine-containing foods or beverages while taking this product because too much caffeine may cause nervousness, irritability, sleeplessness, or occasionally, rapid heartbeat."
