Hot Rox® is a 'fat burner' dietary supplement that promises to boost fat burning, enhance thyroid activity, and promote weight loss. Hot Rox® includes nutrients derived from herbs and botanicals that may help promote weight loss and boost thermogenesis (calorie expenditure). It contains a unique, patent-pending 'MDX complex' including A7-E (a metabolite of the adrenal hormone DHEA), sclaramax (derived from Salvia sclarea), and guggulsterones (an Indian tree resin extract).
The manufacturer, Biotest, has not conducted clinical studies of Hot Rox®. However, research suggests that guggulsterones and 7-keto DHEA may stimulate the thyroid gland and increase T3 thyroid hormone levels. Biotest claims that A7-E has a longer active life and greater bioavailability than 7-keto DHEA. In addition, sclaramax may increase thyroid hormone levels by activating cyclic AMP (a cell regulating compound). High levels of T3 and cyclic AMP can increase the breakdown of fat and decrease the production of fat.
